CURRENT WEATHER CONDITIONS:
No precipitation in area or nearby vicinity. No clouds, a clear day. High pressure is still lingering over Tennessee.
Forecast for January 3, 2025
A low of 28 F and a high of 56 F is expected. A strong high located in the SE region is expected to keep conditions clear, with no rain and sparse cloud coverage throughout the day. Any cloud coverage that does take place will occur during the overnight hours.
A light breeze can be expected during the morning hours, before strengthening into a moderate breeze in the afternoon. The wind is expected to drop back down as the wind sets, but remain elevated in comparison to the previous night. This is due to a strong burst of Arctic air approaching central GA from the north. Lowered temperatures should be expected over the course of the weekend as a result.
Forecast data pulled from the GFS, ECMWF, NAM, and MOS (KMCN).
FORECAST CHECK-IN:
My Forecast: Low: 28 F, High: 56 F, No precipitation
Actual Weather: Low: 26 F, High: 61 F, No precipitation
The low is within acceptable margins of error, however the high exceeded. Conditions warmed greater than expected, with only the GFS MOS KMCN coming close with a predicted temperature of 60 F. I suspect this day had no cloud coverage at all, leading to the a quicker warmup, as the other model initializations outside of the MOS were expecting some cloud coverage.
